Training and Life Recap: Week of July 27

It was another week of ups and downs, with some really solid sessions and some missed workouts. The biggest thing is to listen to my body and do what I can when life gets busy as it did last week with my move.  However, with Worlds only 6 weeks away though and another race only 3 weeks out, I need to really lock things down and get going. Now that I am moved into my new place, it's time to rein the nutrition in as well. The new house is going to be awesome, because my two roomies are my TRI sisters and we live so close to amazing places to train!

Monday: An accidental rest day... life gets in the way of training sometimes, which usually reminds me that I just need to wake up early and get sh!t done in the morning!

Tuesday: In the morning, I got in a nice easy run with 10 minutes running, 2 minutes walking, and 20 minutes running.  Then in the evening, I set a new PB at the Tuesday night time trial! I felt like it was coming after having to stop at the turn around the previous week, and I was excited to see that I "crushed" my previous best. Mike has set a goal for me to go 24:30 by Worlds, and I'm getting closer at 24:46.

Wednesday: Up and at 'em for a 4000m swim.  The main set was 48x50, alternating one steady and one at 1500m pace. Post-swim, I met with Jon to go over my strength program. After work, I got my run in by the river and followed that up with a softball game (I'm terrible at sports that require hand-eye coordination haha).

Thursday: A planned rest day.

Friday: Short swim due to some tummy issues in the morning. I only did about 1500m before calling it a day.

Saturday: An easy 30 minute CONTINUOUS run! After barre classes, I met up with the gang for a gorgeous swim at Lac Meech. I am always in awe of how lovely it is to swim at Meech, and how close it is to the city.

Sunday: The move took precedence and I just couldn't figure out how to fit my 3 hour ride in on Sunday, so I instead of stressing out more, I just didn't do it.  Our bodies can only handle so much stress!

Other random tidbits from the week:

- If you've been meaning to de-clutter your home, pick up "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up" by Marie Kondo.  I haven't finished it yet, but just by completing the first step of going through my clothing, I ended up with 7 bags to donate.

- If you want to watch the most beautiful swim stroke around, check out Katie Ledecky break her own world record in the 1500m freestyle at Kazan.  Apparently her coach told her to "take it easy for the first 900m, build the next 300 and go hard, if she felt like it for the last 300."
